Cost-effective Prototyping of Tools for the Replication of Nano and Microstructures

Rapid innovation is reshaping the future, enhancing the capabilities and efficiency of new technologies. Whether a product upgrade or a new product, in many cases a functioning prototype will open doors to investors and influential press.However, the real key to sustainable success is cost-effective prototyping in different variations to guarantee a smoother transition to industrial production.

Our technologies at 3D AG represent a production line for upscaling nano and microstructures, from mastering and electroforming, to UV step and repeat and laser cutting/welding. We will briefly explore these different technologies to later identify the key processes for cost-effective prototyping of displays, AR/VR, lightguides, photovoltaics and more. While prototyping can be a lengthy and resource-intensive process, this presentation will unveil strategies to expedite development and save resources. Additionally, it will explore the critical aspect of assessing compatibility with existing production lines for cost-effective mass-production of nano and microstructured surfaces.

Martina Müller, CEO 3D AG
Martina Müller is the CEO of 3D AG and has a background in art (ZHAW) and chemistry (ETH) with a degree in business administration (HWZ Zürich). She is an engaged board member at Cosa Mirai AG and Abegg & Co. AG – Swiss companies active in industrial real estate and international investments. She is inspired by research, skilled in logical assessment and strategy. Her focus lies on business development, creating new synergies by combining cross-disciplinary expertise.

Dr. Christian Bosshard, Managing Director Swissphotonics
Dr. Christian Bosshard received his degree in Physics (1986) and his doctorate (1991, Silver medal award) from ETH. From 2001-2021 he was working at CSEM, first as Section Head and then as Vice President and Head Photonics. Since 2013 he is Managing Director of Swissphotonics. Christian is a Fellow of Optica, Board Member of EPIC, and Member of the Board of the University of Basel.
