Novel ultrashort and long pulse lasers and their applications

We will present some innovations that lead to more efficient, compact and lower cost ultrashort pulse lasers enabling biomedical applications including multi-photon microscopy and optical coherence tomography. Furthermore, fast beam rotation optic, as an accessory for the ultrashort pulse laser, is resulting in higher throughput micro-hole drilling. Additionally, a compact laser working heads with diffractive optics are enabling broader range of micro- and macro-material processing applications.

Prof. Bojan Resan, Co-founder of TLD Photonics AG
Bojan Resan received BS in physics from University of Zagreb, Croatia in 1997, MS from ENSPS in Strasbourg and University of South Paris, France, in 1998, and PhD in optics from College of Optics/CREOL University of Central Florida, USA in 2004. He was in R&D management roles in Coherent Inc. Santa Clara, California, and from 2008 in Time-Bandwidth Products/JDSU/Lumentum in Zürich, Switzerland. Since 2017 he is with University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, and since 2019 as professor of laser technology. He co-founded TLD Photonics AG in 2019 and leads technology development as CTO. Throughout his career he was investigating novel technologies for femtosecond semiconductor, fiber, and solid-state lasers and their applications in telecommunications, biomedical and materials processing.

Dr. Christian Bosshard, Managing Director Swissphotonics
Dr. Christian Bosshard received his degree in Physics (1986) and his doctorate (1991, Silver medal award) from ETH. From 2001-2021 he was working at CSEM, first as Section Head and then as Vice President and Head Photonics. Since 2013 he is Managing Director of Swissphotonics. Christian is a Fellow of Optica, Board Member of EPIC, and Member of the Board of the University of Basel.
