Microassembly Workshop-Series, Workshop #1
Industrial need for novel assembly processes
What solutions are there to serve the needs of industry in order to meet challenges such as further miniaturization, cost reduction and higher volumes? This workshop will identify solutions from the field of cross-sectional technologies which will benefit the industry and generate innovative added value.
The trends for the assembly of small components and modules are challenging: parts are becoming smaller and smaller as miniaturization opens new applications fields, while cost pressure and required volumes increase.
Therefore, the goal of this workshop is to develop innovative solutions to these challenges by identifying overlaps with appropriate other cross technology fields. Potential approaches that will be addressed include:
What are concepts from microtechnology which could enable further miniaturization and scalable processes for photonic assemblies?
How can ultrasonic technology approaches from the watchmaking industry be used for novel assembly techniques in photonics?
What are novel gripper technologies for damage-free handling of micro-photonic components?
This workshop aims for both, partners seeking an innovative solution and potential technology providers. Participants will also benefit from insights on current technology topics. This will be followed by group discussions where questions will be explored in more depth and potential areas of need and solutions will be discussed.
Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to network with potential project partners and, ideally, start a collaboration project that can be funded by the NTN Innovation Booster.
